“Architecture has been the inspiration for my art for over thirty years. An early career as an interior designer instilled in me a fascination with the design of floor plans and elevation drawings” affirms Ginny. Initially cutting her teeth with a degree in studio art from St. Cloud State University, and now working as a full time fine artist traveling the country, with pieces in galleries, various exhibitions, consigned in private and public collections of the like -- Ginny Herzog is a prolific, inspirational and unapologetically unique artist in her style and craft.
To create these beautiful and eye catching works Ginny “manipulate[s] digital photos of architecture in Photoshop, frequently eliminating objects or distorting the context of the original image.” From here she “[Pieces] portions of different architectural elements that are unrelated to each other, [then] construct[ing] new, intriguing, familiar, yet unfamiliar architectural forms in [her] paintings.” To create the perfect modern contemporary look Ginny then utilizes an “application of oils, mixed with cold wax medium sometimes suggest fresco walls, concrete or steel; linear detail with graphite and pencils provides a visual pathway throughout the painting and may imply elements of an architectural drawing.”
NOTE FROM THE ARTIST
“Exploring the endless possibilities of architectural compositions, without the need to be concerned with the feasibility to actually build these designs, gives me the artistic freedom that architects seldom have. My pieces welcome repeated visual engagement and discovery may be hung either vertically or horizontally, which allows the viewer multiple perspectives and interpretations of the composition.”
Ginny also welcomes the opportunity to do site specific commissions of homes, commercial buildings, or a body of work by an architectural firm or real estate developer.
