Carrara marble is a type of white or blue-grey marble of high quality, popular for use in sculpture and building decor. It is quarried in the city of Carrara located in the province of Massa and Carrara, which is the northernmost tip of modern-day Tuscany, Italy. Carrara is also the type of marble used in Michelangelo’s iconic Statue of David.
Calacatta is a very close cousin the Carrara marble, however Carrara tends to be a bit muddy and not as pure white -- it is less expensive and more common to find in the marketplace. Calacatta shows in a much different light, with a clean lines and bold veining. The uniqueness shows in each Calacatta slab.
Emperador marble is as distinctive as it is rich in deep, dark colours, with origins hailing from Spain. This marble is perfect for countertop, tile floors, wall accents or anything inbetween.
Travertine marble is a form of limestone which is deposited by mineral springs. Its appearance is often fibrous and concentric, which exists in a number of colour pallets from white, tan, cream-coloured and even the more rusty varieties. It is often known or referred to as travertine limestone or travertine marble; these are the same stone, although travertine is properly classified as a limestone, not marble.
